Law firm marketing in Spain for firms serving US and UK clients

We capture clients in the US and UK, answer them within minutes and in English, and take every enquiry through to a signed engagement letter, with Spanish professional-conduct rules built into the system.

Law firm marketing in Spain works when the firm answers an international client before anyone else and carries the enquiry through to a signed engagement letter. Ocean Partners Consulting, a marketing, CRM and AI consultancy operating from Barcelona and Dubai, builds and runs that system for law firms and relocation consultancies in Spain, measured in signed engagements rather than clicks.

The problem: a client in New York will not wait until 9:30

A family in New York fills in your form at 4pm their time, which is 10pm in Madrid. Someone replies at 9:30 the next morning. By then they have booked a consultation with another firm that had a calendar link and answered in English within five minutes.

That is the most common leak for firms advising people who move to or invest in Spain, but not the only one:

  • Partners spend hours on free consultations with people who do not meet the requirements of the route they want, such as someone hoping to work remotely on a non-lucrative visa.
  • The fee proposal takes days, goes out as a Word file and nobody knows whether it has been opened.
  • Enquiries from four to eight months ago come back ready to move and sign with another firm, because nobody kept in touch.
  • Money is spent on Google Ads with no way of knowing which signed matter came from which campaign.

Demand is there. According to Spain’s Permanent Immigration Observatory, non-lucrative residence permits in force grew by 15.4% year on year at the end of 2025, and notary data put foreign buyers at around one in five home purchases. These are market references, not our results. What most firms lack is not demand but a system to handle it.

Law firm marketing in Spain: the five-layer system

Each layer closes a specific leak in the client journey, from the first search to the renewal of a residence permit.

1. Attract

Google Search campaigns in the US, the UK and Spain, plus Meta for retargeting and lead forms, organised by route: non-lucrative visa, digital nomad visa, the Beckham regime, property purchase or company formation. Each route gets its own English landing page. We remove any ad still selling Spain’s golden visa as an open route; new applications have not been accepted since April 2025.

2. Respond

A bilingual AI agent covers your website and WhatsApp around the clock. It identifies itself as AI, asks about the route, income against the threshold, family and timing, and books the consultation in the right lawyer’s calendar. Consultations can be free or paid and credited against fees. It never gives legal advice.

3. Convert

A CRM with a pipeline per matter type: consultation, proposal, signed, in progress and renewal. HubSpot is our default as an official partner, and we also work on top of other CRMs. Engagement letter templates per package include a prior fee estimate and data protection wording, with e-signature, a payment link and automatic follow-up on days two, five and ten.

4. Nurture

Sequences per route and per planned moving date, a document checklist with a secure upload link, and critical dates stored in the CRM. The six-month window to opt into the Beckham regime, renewals and property purchases trigger tasks for the lawyer and reminders for the client. Documents go to your document management system, never to the marketing CRM.

5. Measure

Offline conversions: the value of every signed engagement letter is sent back to Google Ads and Meta’s Conversions API, so campaigns optimise for signed work rather than form fills. One dashboard shows cost per qualified consultation and per signed engagement, by country and service.

One owner, from the first ad to the signed engagement

Most firms today have an agency for SEO, a freelancer for Google Ads, someone who set up Calendly and a paralegal managing the inbox. Each answers for their own piece and nobody answers for signed engagements. We take responsibility for the whole system, and we already work with law firms serving US and UK clients.

Who it’s for

  • Boutique firms in Spain with an international practice. Five to forty people, with immigration plus at least one other mobility practice such as tax, property or corporate, and a meaningful share of fees from foreign clients.
  • International firms and partners running a Spanish desk who need English-language acquisition and intake that respects Spanish rules.
  • Tax advisers for inbound workers and non-residents, where recurring clients and critical deadlines make follow-up valuable.
  • Relocation consultancies helping expatriates with NIE, TIE, housing or schools. They usually fit the Automate plan and Ocean Platform.

You are likely to be a good fit if you have three or more people, an English-language website and at least €1,000 a month between ad spend and plan. You are not a fit if your practice is litigation only, if you want to pay per lead or if you want to advertise guaranteed approvals.

Plans and pricing at a glance

Compliance built in

  • Advertising. We follow Article 6 of the Spanish Bar’s Code of Conduct: Bar Association named on landing pages, no promised outcomes, testimonials only with written consent.
  • Engagement letters. Templates include a prior fee estimate and data protection information, in line with Organic Law 5/2024 on the Right of Defence. Lead data and client-matter data are kept apart.
  • Anti-money laundering. For property and company matters, intake collects the KYC documents required by Law 10/2010. Compliance decisions stay with the firm.
  • AI. The agent meets the transparency duty in Article 50 of the EU AI Act, applicable since 2 August 2026.
  • Data. A GDPR data processing agreement, double opt-in and consent records in the CRM.

We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice. Legal content and conduct sign-off remain with the firm.

A second market: business setup consultancies in Dubai

Ocean also operates from Dubai, where the opportunity sits with business setup, golden visa and PRO consultancies rather than law firms. Their sales teams often handle dozens of WhatsApp enquiries a day from personal numbers. We build WhatsApp Business API inboxes in HubSpot with round-robin assignment and response-time targets, an AI assistant that answers free-zone questions, and contact rules aligned with the UAE telemarketing resolutions of 2024: calling hours, company numbers only and the Do Not Call Registry.

Law firms are different. Federal Decree-Law 34 of 2022 restricts how lawyers may promote themselves, and Dubai’s Legal Affairs Department has warned against soliciting clients through intermediaries. We therefore do not run acquisition campaigns for UAE law firms; for them we only build CRM and intake operations.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t give legal advice, and neither does the AI agent.
  • We don’t charge per lead or resell enquiries.
  • We don’t promise a number of engagements or visa approvals.
  • We don’t replace your practice-management system or store client documents in the marketing CRM.
  • We don’t sell social media as the core service. It is an optional add-on.

How an engagement runs

  1. Audit (two weeks). We contact your firm as a US client at 10pm, review your last 90 days of enquiries and your ads, and give you a fixed proposal.
  2. Setup (five to seven weeks). We build the CRM, intake, AI agent, proposal templates, campaigns and tracking, and train your team.
  3. Monthly plan. We run and improve the system, with a monthly report built around cost per signed engagement.

Next step

Start with the intake audit for law firms. In two weeks you will know how fast you answer compared with three competitors, where enquiries are lost and what a signed engagement costs you today. If you sign the setup within 30 days, the €900 is deducted in full.

What law firms ask before we start.

How much does law firm marketing in Spain cost with Ocean Partners?
The intake audit costs €900 and is deducted from the setup if you sign within 30 days. The system setup starts from €3,500 and monthly plans start from €550 (Automate), €1,500 (Capture, recommended) and €2,500 (Scale). Ad spend is paid directly to Google and Meta. These are reference prices excluding VAT, adjusted to each firm after the audit.
Are Spanish law firms allowed to advertise on Google and Meta?
Yes. Article 6 of the Spanish Bar's Code of Conduct allows advertising that is objective, truthful and dignified: it must name the Bar Association, cannot promise outcomes and can only use client testimonials with written consent. We review every ad against those criteria, but the firm signs off. We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice.
Does an AI agent talking to prospective clients put confidentiality at risk?
The agent introduces itself as an AI assistant from the first message, as Article 50 of the EU AI Act requires. It qualifies the enquiry and books the consultation, but it never gives legal advice, never touches case files and hands over to a person whenever needed. We sign a data processing agreement and data can be hosted in the EU.
Does it work with Clio or our practice-management system?
We do not replace your practice-management system. We cover what happens before the matter exists, from first contact to the signed engagement letter. On signature, the system can open the matter in Clio or your document management system via API or webhook. HubSpot is our default CRM, we also work with other CRMs, and integration is validated in the audit.
Do you charge per lead or per client?
No. We charge a fee per service, never per lead or per client, and we never resell enquiries between firms. Article 18 of the Spanish Code of Conduct regulates payments to third parties for bringing in clients, and a pay-per-lead model rewards volume rather than signed work. We report cost per qualified consultation and per signed engagement instead.
Do you run client acquisition for law firms in Dubai?
No. UAE rules restrict how lawyers may promote their services and prohibit soliciting clients through intermediaries, so we do not run acquisition campaigns for UAE law firms. In Dubai we work with business setup, golden visa and PRO consultancies, which are not law firms, and we can build CRM and intake operations for law firms without any advertising.
Is there a long-term contract?
Monthly plans have a three-month minimum commitment, because campaigns and automations need that long to produce reliable data. After that they run month to month with 30 days' notice. The audit and the setup are one-off projects with a fixed scope, price and timeline agreed in writing before work starts.
